JIMMY Alapag is hoping that Gary David would still get a chance to showcase his talent - even if it won’t be for Meralco anymore.
Alapag said he hasn’t had a chance recently to talk personally with David, who has been dropped out of the Bolts’ active roster, essentially making him a free agent after a recent spat with management.
“I can really comment too much about it. I just hope that he finds another opportunity to play and really just wish him the best,” Alapag said of his Bolts and Gilas Pilipinas teammate.
“On and off the court, Gary’s still my guy and I hope things work out for him,” he added.
Alapag, though, said the Bolts should not let the issue affect their campaign in the Commissioner’s Cup where they’re currently on top of the leaderboard after beating Blackwater, 106-83, on Friday.
“For us as a team, we have to continue to move forward and continue to try to improve our play and hopefully give ourselves a chance to compete for the championship this conference,” Alapag said.
“(But) my relationship with Gary isn’t going to change.”
