HIGHLY-touted rookie Jio Jalalon has agreed in principle to a three-year contract with Star, which made the former NCAA star its prized pick from the Gilas draft.
The do-it-all point guard is to receive a total package of more than P7 million, including a maximum monthly salary of P150,000 on his freshman year.
Jalalon, nicknamed 'The Bus Driver,' will officially sign the contract with the Hotshots on Thursday.
Signing was scheduled for Wednesday but had to be deferred by the team, which played a tuneup game against defending PBA Philippine Cup champion San Miguel at the Acropolis gym.
But the signing is just a mere formality as the agrement guaranteed Star of an exciting backcourt that also included Paul Lee, Marc Barroca, and Justin Melton.
Jalalon, a star for Arellano in the NCAA, is one of the sought-after players in the Gilas cadet pool which went through a special draft last October 30.
Versatile big man Mac Belo, Matthew Wright, and Carl Bryan Cruz were the other cadet players signed up by their respective teams.
