ROOKIE Jett Manuel is ready to prove he belongs with Barangay Ginebra after coming to terms with the team that picked him in the first round (12th overall) of the recent PBA rookie draft.
The former University of the Philippines star was signed to a one-season contract by the league's most popular ballclub at the San Miguel Corp. headquarters in Mandaluyong on Monday.
SMC sports director and Barangay Ginebra board of governor Alfrancis Chua personally welcomed Manuel to the team during the contract signing.
Terms of the deal weren't made available, although MelMac Management, headed by Mel Macasaquit, which represents Manuel, said the pact was close to being a maximum contract.
"Sakto lang. Better than the average," Macasaquit texted to SPIN.ph.
The short-term deal is also being used by Manuel to prove his worth to the Kings.
"Jett is taking it as an inspiration to perform better for Ginebra," stressed Macasaquit.
Ginebra is expected to start training camp within the week after almost a month off since retaining its PBA Governors Cup championship.
