'Complete package' Troy Rosario gains new fans after SEA Games heroics

    Jun 18, 2015

THE success of Troy Rosario in the Philippines’ campaign in 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore has gained him new fans back home.

Moments after Game One of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Thursday, Rosario was noticeably mobbed by fans who stormed the court at the Ynares Sports Arena after Hapee emerged victorious in the best-of-three series opener over Café France, 83-72.

Rosario patiently accommodated all the requests and, in the process, became the last Hapee player to return to the dugout in his first game back since helping the Gilas Pilipinas cadets to the gold medal in the SEA Games.

“Dahil sa SEA Games,” said one of the many fans who approached Rosario for a photo, when asked by why he wanted a picture of the Hapee cager. “Magaling. Tapos nag-dudunk pa.”

Rosario, who is set to join the coming PBA rookie draft, was one of the best performers among the Gilas cadets in Singapore. The former National University standout finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds in the tight semifinal victory over Thailand.

The 6-7 swingman definitely has a lot of upsides - size, wingspan, versatility, athleticism, shooting touch that is rare for a player his size and, now we know, fan appeal.

He sure looks like a complete package.

PBA teams looking for a future star in the draft better take the cue.
