ADD Jerwin Gaco to the list of veteran cagers whose careers are now in limbo.
After two weeks of trying out with Rain or Shine, the 35-year-old power forward failed to land a roster spot, even just as a practice player, at the Elasto Painters camp.
E-Painters coach Caloy Garcia said he remains satisfied with his 14-man lineup, with Billy Robles and Dexter Maiquez as his practice players.
“He’s in shape naman, pero syempre, we were thinking na lalaki yung lineup,” Garcia told SPIN.ph, referring to the 6-foot-4 bruiser. “Puno na rin kasi yung lineup namin nung dumating si Jerwin eh.”
“And at the same time, mayroon kaming dalawang practice players na pwede naman i-line up kung may opportunity,” he added.
Gaco had been practicing with the E-Painters when James Yap came on board, with the latter requesting management to also take a look at his longtime Purefoods teammate.
But Gaco, a six-year veteran five-time PBA champion, will now have to find another team where he can continue his career.
