WHAT a year it has been for Jerrick Ahanmisi.
A three-point shootout title, a first ever stint with Gilas Pilipinas, and now, a new contract with San Miguel.
The shooting guard from Adamson signed a new deal with the Beermen, just three months since the team acquired him in a trade with Terrafirma.
Details of the contract were not available, but SPIN.ph learned it was a three-year deal.
SMB governor Robert Non and team manager Gee Abanilla were present during the signing, along with Ahanmisi and his representative Danny Espiritu.
So far it has been a remarkable ride for Ahanmisi on a year that didn't exactly started the way he wanted it after being traded by Magnolia to Terrafirma for the rights to Javi Gomez De Liano following a glitch in his contract renegotiations.
But the Fil-Am guard from Adamson blossomed with the Dyip right away, eventually becoming the team's no. 1 option in scoring.
His performance got the attention of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and tapped him to become a part of the Gilas men's 3x3 pool of players - marking his first ever stint as member of the national team.
Soon after, Ahanmisi showcased his shooting prowess when he ruled the PBA All-Star Long Distance contest along with the Obstacle Challenge Course.
Then came the big break.
San Miguel initiated a trade with Terrafirma, acquiring the rights on Ahanmisi and sophomore Paolo Hernandez for the duo of veteran guard Juami Tiongson and rookie Chris Miller.
That eventually paved the way for Gilas Pilipinas coach Tim Cone to include Ahanmisi as part of the national team which tried to defend - and failed - the basketball gold in th 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
