JERRICK Ahanmisi's trading and eventual signing with Terrafirma turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Just two games with the Dyip in PBA Season 50, the former Adamson guard got the dream of his lifetime after being joined by older brother Maverick Ahanmisi in the team.

The 34-year-old Ahanmisi landed at Terrafirma after Barangay Ginebra granted his request for a trade.

Coach Tim Cone admitted talking to other teams for a possible Ahanmisi trade, but in the end, found a willing party in Terrafirma, which sent its Season 51 first round pick to acquire a second Ahanmisi along with Aljon Mariano.

Maverick shared it was Jerrick who was really ecstatic when he personally told him that he had been traded to the Dyip.

“When I told him that I was going to be his teammate, he was screaming,” said Maverick as he related the video call he had with his brother following the latest move in his PBA career.

By his own account, it would be the first time in their basketball journey that they will be playing under one team.

“I’ve never gotten to be teammates with my brother, ever,” said Maverick, who already has a PBA championship tucked under his belt during his time with Rain or Shine, the team that selected him no. 3 overall in the 2015 draft.

“Any path of life, high school, whatever. I’ve never gotten to be his teammate. So this is going to be a cool experience for me.”

Their paths were brought together after separate trade deals.

Prior to Maverick being shipped by Ginebra, Jerrick was dealt by Magnolia to Terrafirma in a trade for the rights of Javi Gomez De Liano.

He actually did well in his first two games with the Dyip, delivering the insurance basket in the team’s first win of the season, a 97-91 upset of the NLEX Road Warriors.

Now Terrafirma hopes two Ahanmisis would be better than one.

“That’s another thing I’m really happy about,” said Maverick outside of his trade request granted by the Kings.
