JERRICK Ahanmisi played his best game in a San Miguel uniform as the Beermen got back to their winning ways, defeating Titan Ultra, 143-105, in Wednesday’s PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup action at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Ahanmisi had 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field to boost the Beermen on their way to a 4-1 win-loss record and a bounce back from their defeat against NLEX last Sunday.
George King also produced with a team-high 35 points for the Beermen ahead of their marquee match-up against TNT on Saturday.
Titan Ultra fell to 1-5.
The Beermen built a big lead after outscoring the Giant Risers, 49-23, in the third quarter. San Miguel was only protecting a three-point advantage, 61-58, at the half.
“It was a game of runs. It’s really difficult knowing (what) Titan can do,” San Miguel deputy coach Peter Martin said. “If we scouted their team, grabe sila kung umiskor especially kapag tumatakbo sila, so we were just wary of that.”
Ahanmisi produced his best outing after entering the match with an average of 8.0 points including only 5.3 over the previous three games. He had 12 in that key third quarter as he teamed up with King, who had 23 in that same period.
San Miguel also won with Cjay Perez playing for only two minutes as he is nursing a groin injury.
