ANTIPOLO – Jerome Lastimosa doesn’t mind being at the receiving end of LA Tenorio’s scolding.
The Magnolia sophomore guard Adamson knows it is for his own good.
“Doon naman tayo matututo, e. And I never take for granted yung laging nagagalit yung coach natin,” said Lastimosa. “It means may pakialam siya and gusto niya lang ma-improve yung laro ko.”

The former UAAP star showed he’s up to the task on Wednesday night as he scored a career-high 30 points in the Lastimosa explodes for 30 as Magnolia runs down Phoenix Super LPG in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ynares Center.
Lastimosa scored 12 points in the final quarter alone as he teamed up with veteran backcourt partner Mark Barroca when the Hotshots outscored the Fuelmasters, 33-17, to break open a game that was close, 84-82, in Phoenix's favor after three quarters.
It was the second straight game where the guard out of Adamson played huge in the stretch run after his 17-point outburst in a 105-88 win over the Meralco Bolts in the previous contest.
Tenorio admitted he’s particularly been hard on Lastimoisa out of all the Hotshots.
“Alam ng mga players siya (Jerom) ang madalas kong pagalitan because I know kung ano yung kaya niyang gawin sa team na ito,” said the Magnolia coach in between laughs.
“Kaya sabi ko sa kanya it’s his responsibility now para matuto siya. May mangyari sa team sa loob ng court o wala, siya ang papagalitan ko. So nagre-respond naman yung bata.”
Good thing too, Tenorio said the player the Hotshots selected as the No. 9 overall pick in the Season 49 draft, isn’t taking things personally and is proving to be a good listener.
“He’s a good student of the game. And ginagawa niya yung mga sinasabi ng mga coaches lalo na ako,” said the rookie mentor.
“Siya ang tinututukan ko kasi I know he can be special to this team.”
Lastimosa’s heroics helped Magnolia clinched a third straight win to improve to 4-3 overall in a tie with Phoenix for second place in Group B heading to the team’s nine-week break for the coming FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers and the 20th Asian Games.
