JERICHO Cruz tweeted a 'thinking face' emoji on Saturday while rumors swirled about his supposed exit from TNT KaTropa.
The emoji was Cruz's only social media footprint on Saturday amid reports that he was asked by TNT management to no longer report for practice going into the KaTropa’s quarterfinal series against San Miguel in the PBA Philippine Cup.
The tweet also came just minutes after SPIN.ph quoted TNT consultant Mark Dickel as saying that Cruz will sit out possibly for the rest of the conference due to a recurring hamstring injury.
Cruz was relegated to the injury list along with Frank Golla heading into the San Miguel series which began on Saturday.
Cruz, acquired by TNT in a trade with Rain or Shine last year, has been in the middle of trade talks that was supposed to bring him to Blackwater in a three-team deal also involving TNT and Meralco.
The centerpiece of that deal, rookie Ray Parks, was supposed to go to Meralco while Bolts guard Baser Amer was supposedly headed to TNT.
Parks just ended his stint with Alab Pilipinas in the ABL, making him available to play in the PBA.
But when reached by SPIN.ph, Cruz declined to comment on Dickel’s statement and insisted his tweet has nothing to do with the TNT trade rumors.
Cruz wasn't at the Mall of Asia Arena for Game One of TNT's best-of-three quarterfinal against San Miguel Beer.
The shifty guard later tweeted his tweet had nothing to do with the trade saga.
However, former TNT teammate Terrence Romeo poured fuel to the fire when he dedicated his Best Player performance in San Miguel's win over the KaTropa to Cruz and RR Garcia.
