ANTIPOLO – San Miguel guard Jericho Cruz will be fined by the PBA Commissioner’s Office for flashing a dirty finger in Game One of the Philippine Cup Finals against TNT.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said the league’s technical committee was informed about Cruz's obscene gesture and was able to verify it after an investigation.
Netizens were the first to spotted Cruz's act, which appeared to be directed towards someone in the TNT bench during the fourth quarter of the Tropang 5G’s 96-91 loss to the Beermen.
Fines have been handed out from similar incidents but the amount varies, with one of the worst penalties involving Calvin Abueva of Magnolia, who was fined P20,000 and suspended one game for a dirty finger seen on national TV in March 2024.
