BARANGAY Ginebra and TNT KaTropa will be without their versatile big men as they press their respective postseason bids in their PBA Philippine Cup faceoff on Sunday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Gin Kings are still awaiting the full recovery of Joe Devance from offseason foot surgery, while the Texters rest Troy Rosario after the third-year stretch forward hit his chin following a scary fall in their 74-72 loss to Phoenix last Wednesday.
So expect the rest their respective teams to step up in their matchup that tips off at 6:45 p.m. with the hopes of breaking a tie in the standings at 4-4.
It will be a battle of contrasting styles as the Gin Kings employ their Triangle offense, while the Texters turn to the dribble-drive.
“It always comes down to discipline in our execution on both sides of the ball when we play TNT,” Ginebra coach Tim Cone said in a text message on the eve of their matchup. “Our respective systems are so radically different that it always comes down to who can play their game. They are always a tough matchup for us.”
The Gin Kings seek to ride the momentum of their 103-77 blowout win over Kia, while the Texters aim to bounce back from their two-point loss to the Fuel Masters.
NLEX, another team at 4-4, looks to derail Alaska’s hot six-game winning streak as the Road Warriors take on the Aces in the first game at 4:30 p.m.
