JAYSON Castro proved he still has some gas left in the tank.
The veteran point guard won the PBA Finals MVP award at age 38 after his vintage performances in the Governors' Cup championship series that saw TNT put away Barangay Ginebra in six games.
The 38-year-old Castro averaged 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in the best-of-seven title series which ended on Friday night with a 95-85 win by the Tropang Giga in Game 6 before a crowd of 14,668 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Castro beat out teammates Calvin Oftana and Roger Pogoy for the coveted award presented by Honda.
It was the third PBA Finals MVP for the native of Bacolor, Pampanga or 13 years after winning his last one during the 2011 Commissioner’s Cup.

Castro spearheaded the Tropang Giga’s title retention bid, turning back the hands of time right away in the series opener when he scored 12 of his 14 points in the third quarter for a 104-88 win at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
And during the title-clinching win, he finished with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field, six assists, and two rebounds.
His assist to a cutting Kelly Williams with 1:20 to go basically sealed the win for TNT, giving the team a 91-85 lead.
"Pag assist ko kay Kelly, nung na-shoot niya, sabi ko may tsansa kaming manalo," said Castro after the Game 6 win.
