WHEN Talk N Text’s biggest offensive threat was on limp mode, the smallest guy went into overdrive to secure the Katropa’s return trip to the PBA Finals for the first time in two seasons.
Jayson Castro delivered a monster double-double as man-mountain Joshua Smith played through injury as TNT disposed of Ginebra in four games to set up a title showdown with San Miguel.
Castro had 38 points and 11 assists in the series clincher after putting up measly numbers in the opener.
For his huge performance, the 30-year-old Castro was picked PBA Press Corps Player of the Week for the period of June 13 to 18 over San Miguel’s June Mar Fajardo, Alex Cabagnot and Chris Ross.
TNT is looking to end a two-year title drought, having won their last PBA crown in the 2015 Commissioner’s Cup behind flamboyant import Ivan Johnson.
