ANTIPOLO CITY - Jason Castro admitted getting an offer a long time ago from a team in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) for him to play in the league as an import.

But at the moment, the two-time best point guard of Asia is not thinking about the proposal, saying he’s more focused on leading TnT KaTropa to the PBA Governors Cup semifinals and, hopefully, another championship.

“Matagal na 'yun at tsaka hindi ko na muna iniisip 'yun kasi ilang conference na kaming hindi nakakapasok ng semifinals,” said the star playmaker shortly after steering the Texters to a thrilling 120-118 win over the Alaska Aces on Friday night at the Ynares Center here.

"Yun ang challenge sa amin ng management na makapasok naman uli kami ng finals."

Castro's offer to play in the CBA was first reported by the Inquirer's Roso 'Musong' Castillo.

TnT Katropa coach Jong Uichico said he knows about the offer even before Gilas Pilipinas' campaign in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

"Matagal na yun, narinig ko na yan," he said. "As long as it doesn't bother Jason, it's ok."

Asked if he's considering playing again away from home the way he did when the veteran playmaker suited up for the Singapore Slingers in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) while still an amateur, Castro was non-committal.

"Matagal na yun basta hindi ko na pinapansin. Kung meron, meron, kung wala, wala," he said.

The former Philippine Christian University stalwart however, remained tight-lipped about the contract package offered to him.

On this night, Castro again proved why he's a most-sought after player not only in the Philippines but outside of it.

He banged away 26 points (10 of 19), 18 of them in the second half, as he led the Texters to the comeback win that tied them for the lead with idle Mahindra at 3-0. For good measure, Jason added four rebounds and 10 assists.

"Three tough games, all three of them went down the wire. And it's good we survived those games," said Uichico of his team, which won over Rain or Shine and Meralco earlier.
