WITH their import under the weather on Monday night, Jayson Castro decided to play like one in the team’s 102-84 win over Meralco in Game One of their PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinal series.
The TNT KaTropa superstar didn’t mind taking a heavier load with Texters reinforcement Joshua Smith having flu-like symptoms, wasting little time in making his mark as he fired nine points in the opening period that set the tone for the blowout win.
“Gusto ko lang maging aggressive from the start kasi off the bench yung import namin,” Castro said.
After a strong start, 'The Blur' put up an even stronger finish as he scored nine points again in the final frame to finish off the Bolts.
Castro, who ended up with 25 points, seven assists, seven boards, three steals, and two blocks, played down his offensive explosion, saying it was their defense that laid the foundation for the win.
Now, they’re one win away from the semifinals.
“Pero ni-remind kami ni coach na as long as dumedepensa kami at pinapahirapan namin sila, malaki chance namin.”
