JAYSON Castro is expected to remain out of commission until the final week of the month that could force him to sit out a few of TnT Katropa’s early games in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The 30-year-old guard continues to recover from a hamstring injury on his left foot which he suffered during Game Six of the Texters’ semifinal series with eventual champion San Miguel Beermen in the Philippine Cup. Left hurting, Castro missed the deciding do-or-die encounter as the team’s campaign ended on a disappointing note after once leading the best-of-seven showdown, 3-2

“He may be available pa by the last week of March. He is still undergoing rehab right now,” said a team insider.

The Texters will finally practice as a complete unit this weekend following their exit in the all-Filipino Cup.

Team management made sure to scuttle the return of players, with the second unit first to plunge into training followed by the starting five this week.

“Unti-unti lang muna, Yung first unit kababalik lang this week,” said team manager Virgil Villavicencio. “Hopefully, we’ll start practicing as a whole by Saturday.”

Castro has no go-signal yet to join the team in training, but is rigorously showing up at the Moro Lorenzo gym inside the Ateneo campus.

The mid-season conference kicks off on Mrach 17.
