JAYSON Castro is glad to see Terrence Romeo maturing for GlobalPort in the SmartBro-PBA Philippine Cup.

TnT overwhelmed the Batang Pier, 107-96, on Friday, but the Tropang Texters star still saw some improvements in the play of Romeo in their first meeting as opponents since being teammates at Gilas Pilipinas.

“Yung maturity niya, nandun na, kasi before talagang kahit two-on-one or ano, talagang (pinipilit niya), pero kanina ini-involve niya 'yung mga teammate niya,” Castro said.

After going scoreless in the first quarter where he let his teammates get involved, Romeo took over in the last three quarters and finished with a team-high-tying 24 points.

“Alam natin si Terrence scorer talaga,” Castro said. “Pero nung hindi na kami naka-focus sa kanya, siya naman yung umiskor.”

“Masaya ako para sa kanya kasi yung mga experience niya sa Gilas, nadadala niya sa GlobalPort,” he added.

Romeo is well aware he still has a thing or two to learn from his national team elder, who scattered 25 points, six assists, and four boards to lead the Texters.

“Magaling talaga si kuya Jayson,” the 23-year-old cager said. “Alam naman natin na siya ang best point guard in Asia eh, so no doubt  na every game, kaya niya mag-perform.”
