JAYSON Castro underlined how his life has become easier with the arrival of Terrence Romeo after the two teamed up in TNT KaTropa’s 128-114 win over GlobalPort in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday night.

With new recruit Romeo starting and getting most of the attention, Castro sneaked in off the bench and provided the spark as The Blur scattered a team-high 21 points on just nine attempts, 10 assists, six boards, and one steal in less than 27 minutes.

“Oo (gumaan ang buhay ko), kasi kapag may Terrence ka, talagang threat talaga, anytime umi-iskor basta gusto niya,” Castro said. “Maganda para sa 'min 'yun.”

“Maganda kasi everytime na pumapasok siya [Terrence], ako, si Jericho, RR... parang laging may threat at the same time, siguro yun yung strength namin,” he added. “Kailangan lang namin ma-maximize yun.”

With the defensive attention not focused on one man, Castro had more open looks and looked fresh down stretch, scoring 10 in final frame where the Texters outscored the Batang Pier, 45-33.

“Kasi kahit sino sa amin kaya umiskor eh,” Castro said. “Siguro yung pinaka-test lang sa amin ngayon is paano namin i-stop yung kalaban kasi parang nakikita namin na wala naman problema sa scoring.”

“May import din naman kami na kaya umiskor pero ginagawa niya 'yung intangible like yung rebound, defense, which is maganda naman,” he added.

While Castro sustained his deadly offensive form, TNT coach Nash Racela focused on Castro’s leadership role to Romeo and to the rest of the young guys.

“If we're talking about Terrence, I think what's key now is Jayson's guidance,” Racela said. “Si Jayson has been really embracing that role of guiding the other players, the younger players, and really leading them. He makes the point to talk to them, at least every day I see him in practice really talking to the players.”

“How Jimmy (Alapag) guided him when he was starting out in the PBA, I think that's exactly the role of Jayson now for his teammates,” he added.
