THE Blur has shifted into a higher gear, but one that’s expected at this time of a PBA tournament.
Jayson Castro is enjoying his second wind after a juggling club and country last month as he gears up for TNT KaTropa’s crucial stretch in the Governors’ Cup.
Averaging just 12.3 points on 9.3 attempts in 23.3 minutes in three games since he came back from national team duty, the Texters superstar put up conference-highs of 27 points on just 13 attempts in 33 minutes to lead his team to a 113-107 win over Meralco on Wednesday night.
“Oo (second wind), medyo nakakabawi na din, kasi pagdating namin medyo may jetlag pero ngayon okay na yung pakiramdam namin,” he added of his and fellow national team member Roger Pogoy’s conditioning.
Castro, who added three boards, three assists, two blocks, one steal, against three turnovers, insisted he still has a conscious effort to keep involving his teammates throughout the season-ending conference.
“And then more focus din kami sa defense namin kasi last game dami namin lapses sa defense kaya yung offense namin di kami maka-shoot ng maayos,” he added. “So this time parang nagfocus kami sa defense talaga.”
Castro believes Glen Rice Jr., who paced the Texters with 32 points and 11 boards, can be the right fit for the Texters with more time with his teammates.
“Every time na nasa loob siya maraming nangyayari - kaya niya umiskor, kaya niya dumipensa so okay naman,” Castro insisted.
“Siguro yung pagdating sa fourth quarter, maging aggressive pa siya,” he was quick to add of the son of his namesake and NBA icon.
