JAY Washington said he found it fitting that he made the PBA's 5,000-point club while playing for Rain or Shine - the team where his career in the Philippines started from his days in the PBL.

Washington reached the milestone at the two-minute, 45-second mark of the second quarter of Rain or Shine's 99-95 overtime win over Mahindra, becoming the 79th player in the league - and the first in the franchise - to achieve the feat.

After bouncing around the league, Washington, made the No. 1 pick overall of the 2005 PBA rookie draft by Air21, finally returned to Rain or Shine in the offseason when he was traded from GlobalPort for JR Quinahan.

"It's a nice milestone in my career and it's nice to be able to be the first player in Rain or Shine to get that accomplishment," said Washington.

"My career started here so it's nice to get it when I have something like that with the team that I consider family - with the management and everything," he added.
