AT this point, Jason Webb is taking all the help he can get.
The Star coach is starting to be superstitious as he coached with ripped pants at some point in the Hotshots’ first victory in three games in the PBA Governors’ Cup, a 105-102 decision against GlobalPort on Sunday night.
Webb was complaining over a call to a referee in the third quarter when his overreaction led to his gray slacks getting ripped.
Asked if he became uncomfortable at some point, Webb said he had it sewn during a break.
But the rookie coach was quick to add that he would gladly have his pants get designer pair of pants getting ripped again if it continued to bring good fortune.
“For breaking a losing streak, I'm going to rip my pants again—whatever it takes to win,” a relieved Webb said after the game.
The former PBA player said he doesn't bring with him extra pants, for the simple reason such incident rarely happens especially during the course of a game.
"Hindi ko naman akalain na mapupunit di ba," stressed Webb, who added the Hotshots made fun out of it.
"Sabi nga nung mga players ko akala nila nautot(farted) ako kasi ang lakas ng tunog," he said laughing.
Fortunately for him, the 20-minute power outage at the Smart Araneta Coliseum early in the fourth period allowed him to go back to the team dugout and do something about.
"Oo kasi natahi," he said.
