AS far as Jason Castro is concerned, the perfect 10-0 record of Talk `N Text isn't an added pressure to the team nor does it serves as a distraction heading to its PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinal series against Rain or Shine.
The diminutive guard admitted coach Norman Black has warned the Tropang Texters of a bumpy road ahead as they target a return to the Finals for the first time since winning last season’s Philippine Cup crown.
“Hindi lahat ng conferences eh smooth sailing. May adversity din kaming madadaanan so lagi lang kaming handa,” Castro told Spin.ph on Sunday.
“Ang sinasabi lang ni coach na basta prepared lang, at kung dumating yung time na 'yun (streak will end), maging buo pa rin kami dahil yun ang key. So di na namin iniisip na ma-sweep,” he added.
Talk ‘N Text ended the single-round eliminations with an immaculate 9-0 record to end up as the top-seeded team going to the playoffs.
The Tropang Texters then opened the playoffs with a 97-84 humiliation of eight seed Barangay Ginebra Kings to become the first team to book a seat in the semis.
“Sana magtuloy-tuloy ang panalo kasi 'yun naman ang main goal namin eh, na maglaro sa Finals,” said the soft-spoken guard, nicknamed the “Blur” for his blinding speed.
The 5-foot-8 Castro, who averages 13.3 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds, said he’s not worried about rust going into Game One of the best-of-five series against the Elasto Painters.
The team had a five-day break prior to Monday’s game.
“Hindi naman (worried), kasi sa practice lahat ng pagpapa-kundiyson ginagawa namin eh,” he said. “Nag-i-scrimmage din kami, yung talagang laro, so `yung issue na kakalawangin kami, eh alam naman namin paano kundisyunin ang mga katawan namin.”
