NORTHPORT coach Pido Jarencio said he was perplexed by the attitude of Phoenix import Richard Howell who he claimed hurled profanities at him without any provocation on Wednesday night.
With Prince Ibeh shooting a free throw at the 8:44 mark of the fourth quarter, the outspoken mentor was giving instructions to Mo Tautuaa when Howell suddenly approached him and shouted expletives.
"May sinasabi ako kay Mo, tapos minura niya ako. May sinasabi akong play, tapos bigla niya akong mumurahin. Bakit niya ako minura?" said Jarencio.
Players were quick to pacify the two, but Kevin Ferrer stood up for his longtime mentor and confronted Howell over the incident.
Jarencio and Howell were both slapped with technical fouls for using profane language during the exchange.
Spin.ph sought Howell's comments about the incident at the end of the 97-87 Phoenix win, but the former Best Import awardee begged off as he made his way out of the venue.
