Dilinger later confirmed to Spin.ph about his decision to retire.

"No more hoops for me. Just talking hoops nowadays," he said, obviously referring to the popula podcast 'Let It Fly' where he serves as one of its co-host.

His formal retirement came three weeks after close friend Gabe Norwood also hanged up his jersey with Rain or Shine. The 40-year-old Norwood was the first overall pick in the same Rookie Draft with Dilinger.

The 6-foot-4 Dilinger won a total of nine championships in a career that spanned for 17 years - five with TNT and four with Barangay Ginebra.

He also played for Meralco after five seasons with TNT, but never got to win a championship, although he did play in two championship affairs.

Dilinger played his final four seasons with Barangay Ginebra. which dangled him from the free agency market spike with controversy.

While he won four championships with the Kings - the last of which came during the 2022-23 Commissioner's Cup against the Bay Area Dragons - he didn't get to play that much under coach Tim Cone due to constant injuries.
