IMPORT Josh Davis being back to his old deadly form, is indeed a welcome sight for Meralco.

Jared Dillinger and Mike Cortez are both pleased to see Davis fully recovered from a harrowing back injury he suffered two weeks ago after scoring 32 points and grabbing 19 rebounds in the Bolts’ 98-85 win over Barako Bull Friday night in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The win not only snapped the team’s two-game slide but also allowed the Bolts to punch a playoff ticket as they regained a share of the lead with sister team Talk ‘N Text.

Dillinger said the All-Star break was a big blessing for the 6-foot-7 import as it gave Davis enough time to recover from a lower back injury he sustained in Meralco’s 102-86 loss to San Miguel Beer in Cagayan de Oro City.

“That two weeks and All-Star break we had is a blessing because Josh shouldn’t even play in the NLEX game to be honest, but yes, he’s (Davis) back,” the left-handed point guard said after the game.

The 30-year-old Dillinger describes Davis as a team player, who does everything for the Bolts.

“He brings that winning attitude. And Josh is the type of guy you don’t need to call plays for but still ends up with 20 points and 15 rebounds,” observed the stalwart from the University of Hawaii.

“Everything from the smallest detail and he’s a hardworker, easy to talk, and he does what he’s told to do,” he added.

“He’s the type of guy you want from the team when you want to win the championship.”

Cortez seconded Dillinger’s observation, saying the 23-year-old look-alike of San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard brings so much for Meralco, from offense, defense, to rebounding.

“He brings in the energy. And when he plays with energy, it picks everybody else up,” said the starting Meralco playmaker.

“He cleans everything up for us in defense. He’s the man in the middle and provides on what we’re missing because we saw at the All-Filipino that we need to get rebounds and he cleans things for us,” he added.
