BIG man Japeth Aguilar was left dumbfounded when one glaring statistic was pointed out to him in the wake of Barangay Ginebra’s 107-82 rout at the hands of San Miguel Beer in Game 4 of their PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.

Badly missed by Ginebra was Scottie Thompson’s rebounding in the 25-point blowout that evened the best-of-seven series at two-game apiece on Wednesday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Thompson’s statsline read: 11 points, 0 rebounds, and, four assists, and one block shot.

“Man no. Ngayon lang,” said Aguilar when SPIN.ph told him about arguably the PBA's best rebounding guard getting zero rebounds.

The former MVP leads the Kings both in scoring and rebounding in the Final Four, averaging 13.6 points and 7.0 rebounds.

Ironically, the former University of Perpetual Help star achieved career milestones in both defensive (2,000) and offensive (1,000) rebounding this season.

In light of Thompson’s uncanny rebounding on this night, Aguilar gave credit where it is due.

“It’s not on Scottie, It’s a good job done by San Miguel,” said the veteran center.

With the Kings outrebounded by the Beermen, 50-40, Aguilar stressed the need for Ginebra to be better for Game 5 on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“We got to be better and improve in the next game,” he said. “It was a tremendous job by the San Miguel guys. Everybody contributed for them.”
