JAPETH Aguilar was taken to a hospital on Sunday after the Barangay Ginebra big man was accidentally poked in the eye by teammate Stanley Pringle.

Ginebra coach Tim Cone said Aguilar didn't wait for the game to end before leaving to have his eye checked. The Gin Kings hacked out a 102-83 win over Alaska.

"It was a deep, deep poke. One of those that the finger kinda gets in the side of the eye and gets stuck in there. It wasn’t just a scratch. It was really the finger that got in. Hopefully, he is all right,” said Cone.

Replays showed Pringle inadvertently poked the left eye of Aguilar while trying to dish out a pass. Replays also showed Aguilar’s left eye was already swollen shortly after the incident.

Aguilar finished with eight points and 11 rebounds before the incident.

“We have five, six days to play again. We sent him to the hospital before the game ended. We’ll know more as the info comes in. At this point, we don’t know what’s going on but we hope it’s not too major. Eyes are a delicate thing,” said Aguilar.
