CALASIAO, Pangasinan - Only in the All-Star.
Japeth Aguilar admitted conniving with June Mar Fajardo to execute what turned out to be the highlight play of this year's PBA All-Star game on Sunday.
Even though they belonged to opposite teams, Aguilar of the North selection, talked to the South's Fajardo about completing a slam dunk play with the help of the 6-foot-11 five-time MVP.
The two had the conversation at halftime of the game which the North won by runaway fashion, 185-170, in the highest-scoring All-Star outing ever.
"Habang nanonood kami ng 3x3 kinausap ko siya," said Aguilar of the play that saw him jump over Fajardo to execute a rim-rattling one-hander jam midway in the third period that brought the house down at the Calasiao Sports Complex.
"June Mar, thank you."
The two initially failed to execute the play, but wasn't denied the second time around.
Aguilar ended up with 32 points and eight rebounds to emerge co-MVP of the game with Arwind Santos.
It was the first All-Star MVP for the son of former PBA player Peter Aguilar.
