JAPETH Aguilar is a game-time decision on Sunday night for Game Five of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
There are doubts on the Ginebra star forward’s availability after he sprained his left ankle in the second half of their 88-86 win against Meralco that tied the best-of-seven series at two games all.
But Aguilar joined the Gin Kings’ practice on Saturday, although he remains under observation ahead of the Game Five that tips off at 6:30 p.m.
“He will warm up tomorrow and we will determine his availability at that time,” Gin Kings coach Tim Cone said in a text message on Saturday.
Aguilar said after the win that he just needs to maximize the rest before Game Five where the Gin Kings seek to gain control after being down twice in the series.
That should give Ginebra enough reason to hope for a postponement of Game Five owing to the threat of typhoon Karen.
The league is set to make the announcement at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
