JAPETH Aguilar could see action “at some point” during the finals of the PBA Season 46 Governors’ Cup when Barangay Ginebra faces Meralco for the fourth time, according to head coach Tim Cone.
Cone said an Aguilar return in the championship series is definitely a possibility with the Kings now closing in on a Governors’ Cup crown.
The question, however, is when.
“We expect Japeth to come in at some point in the finals but we don’t know when,” said Cone.
Aguilar has been out for Barangay Ginebra for the majority of the playoffs due to a calf injury that limited his movement on the court.
Japeth Aguilar last played in the opener of the semifinals, which Ginebra won, 3-1, over NLEX.
The last time Aguilar played for Ginebra was in Game One of the semifinals against NLEX where he only saw action for 19 minutes and scored four points.
Ginebra has been hounded by injuries all conference long. Stanley Pringle has not seen action for the Kings during the Governors’ Cup.
Aljon Mariano has also not played for Ginebra in the conference, but Cone said he could also be back for the finals.
“I’m hoping Aljon will be ready in Game One or two but we will be shorthanded no matter what,” Cone said.
“I think he might be able to play in this finals so that will be huge for us if we get Aljon back,” he added.
