COLUMN: No news on Malonzo injury isn't exactly good news for Ginebra fans
"Jamie is out three to four weeks due to a calf injury," confirmed a Barangay Ginebra insider to SPIN.ph.
"Good thing hindi Achilles, kundi tapos na ang season niya."
Malonzo went down with the injury with only two seconds left in the Kings' 95-88 win over the Batang Pier at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The product of De La Salle appeared ready to take off for a dunk, but suddenly fell on his own.
He had to be carried out of the playing court on his way to the Ginebra dugout, and the same thing on his way out of the venue.
Malonzo finished with 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists in the Kings' second straight win to improve at 5-3 for solo third place.
He's expected to miss though, Ginebra last three games of the eliminations starting this Friday against TNT, Converge in Cagayan de Oro on April 27, and NLEX on May 5 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The calf injury also meant Malonzo could still be available for Gilas Pilipinas leading to the Olympic qualifying rournament in Latvia from July 2-7.
