STEPPING out of her comfort zone, karateka Jamie Lim wore high-heeled shoes and walked with the San Miguel Beermen during the PBA Season 49 opening ceremonies at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
She didn't mind.
Afterall, the PBA appearance felt very much like a full-circle moment for the two-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist, bringing back memories of his legendary dad Samboy Lim's career, which he spent at San Miguel.

"I'm very honored, full circle. My dad started his PBA career and ended his PBA career with San Miguel, and I am a muse now," she said.
"I didn't think I would be a muse as a karate girl, but here we are. I love tonight, tonight was great."
The national athlete wore a long red dress and stiletto to the PBA party and appeared to enjoy her 'girly-girl' moment, a far cry from all those karate videos that have made her popular on TikTok.
"It is outside [my comfort zone], I couldn't wear the heels, oh my gosh. Buti na lang I didn't trip," Lim said. "I enjoyed, it's fun being a 'girly-girl' sometimes, and not training in karate."
Lim found herself in the company of actresses and beauty queens, but felt right at home alongside athletes like Olympian gymnast Aleah Finnegan, volleyball player Jema Galanza, and figure-skater Skye Chua.
It's empowering, too.
"I'm amazed [that there are athletes] because I see the shift. Beautiful is powerful. Nakakatuwa lang, and it's an honor to be a muse," she added.
She was also glad to share the moment with one of the players she admires, eight-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo.
"I'm rooting for everyone, they're all good but idol ko si The Kraken," she said.
