James Yap skips shootout to be with Bimby, but hopes son will be allowed to watch him in PBA All-Star Game

Apr 4, 2014
James Yap says he hopes son Bimby will be at the MOA Arena to watch him play in the PBA All-Star Game.

FAMILY comes first for James Yap.

The San Mig star opted to pull out of the three-point competition on Friday since the PBA All-Star Weekend side event fell on his court-arranged visitation day with son Bimby.

The 32-year old father said nothing is more important for him that spending time with his mini-me even if it means missing the three-point shootout, which he last ruled in 2008.

"Visitation ko kasi ngayon e," Yap told Spin.ph of his visitation day with his son with estranged wife Kris Aquino. "Mas importante si Baby James."

On Sunday, Yap will start for the PBA All-Star selection against Gilas Pilipinas in the midseason showpiece and he said it would gladden him if Bimby will be allowed to be at the venue to cheer him on.

"Gusto ko sama dyan pero ayaw pa e," he said. "Baka sa Sunday mapapayag ko."

"Motivation 'yun (andyan siya) para mas galingan ko."
