JAMES Yap has returned to the country to rejoin Rain or Shine in its training sessions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yap has been spending the last few months of the PBA postponement of games in Italy to be with his family, but the two-time MVP is now ready to get back to work and train.

The 38-year-old Yap arrived in Manila on Friday amidst the resumption of practices by all PBA teams in preparation for the possible return of the 2020 season.

Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia said Yap still needs to undergo a swab test in order to get cleared to return to practice as part of the health protocols of the government on professional sports.

The Elastopainters have been spending their trainings in batches at the Reyes Gym in Mandaluyong City with the team eager to play the games as soon as possible.

Hopes were high on Yap prior to the postponement of the PBA games due to the pandemic with Garcia saying that Yap is as healthy as ever during the offseason.

Garcia even described the former Purefoods star as the James Yap of old during Rain or Shine’s preseason competitions.
