TWO-time PBA MVP James Yap decided to end his stint with the Rain or Shine franchise on Monday after his request to be released was granted by the franchise.
The 41-year-old Yap thanked the Elasto Painters management of Raymund Yu and Terry Que for making him part of the Rain or Shine family for the past seven years.

Yap however, just sought his release from the team and didn't mention anything about a possible retirement, opening the possibility of him signing with other PBA teams.
Yu confirmed Yap did ask for his release.
The seven-time champion, including a grand slam winner in 2014, played the last seven seasons with the Welbest franchise since the blockbuster one-on-one trade with Magnolia for shooting guard Paul Lee in 2017.
The last three years however, saw Yap bothered by an assortment of injuries that he's been in and out of the Rain or Shine roster.
"After much prayer and reflection, I have decided to end my journey as an Elasto Painter. I have truly appreciated all those who have supported me during this time, and thank you for making me part of your family for seven years," Yap said on his IG account.
He also made a heartfelt gratitude to the entire Rain or Shine management.
"I want to extend my gratitude to the team's management for graciously approving my request for release and allowing me to move forward to begin the next chapter in my life," added the current San Juan City councilor.
"I will always be grateful for this team (RoS).. for all the memories, and for the lessons we went through together."
