RAIN or Shine hardly felt the absence of James Yap on Saturday as it drew contributions from all over that factored in a 122-98 victory Blackwater in their PBA Governors’ Cup

Yap was absent due to a hamstring injury he sustained in practice on the eve of their matchup against the Elite.

ROS coach Caloy Garcia said Yap sent him a message on gameday, informing him of his status.

“Sabi niya magpahinga na lang daw siya today,” Garcia said in the postgame conference. “I think he's going to the doctor later or tomorrow.”

Asked if Yap is going to be ready for the playoffs, Garcia sounded optimistic.

    “Hopefully,” Garcia said.

At least on Saturday, a balanced effort that saw six E-Painters scoring in double digits compensated for the absence of Yap.

“Like I said, we're more of a team and we'll try to develop it,” Garcia said. “Nice thing with James is he's confident with his teammates.”
