MAHINDRA has gained proof that the squad is for real, yet James White refused to label his team as such.
While embracing their surprising start that has rewarded them with their maiden playoff berth in the PBA, the Enforcer import believes their journey has only just begun in the Governors’ Cup.
“I’m not going to say that (we’re for real) at all,” White said after their 107-104 win over TNT Katropa on Friday night. “We’re just thankful for this opportunity and we’re still going to keep building off of it. We’re just having fun from it.”
White has reason to be guarded as the Enforcer still have perennial contenders Rain or Shine, Ginebra, and Meralco in their schedule before the playoffs.
Still, White, who showed the way against the Texters with 24 points, highlighted by a 10-of-10 clip from the charity stripe, 10 boards, three blocks, three assists, and two steals in 40 minutes, welcomed their impressive win over the erstwhile undefeated squad.
“It’s a blessing from God,” the unassuming reinforcement said. “We understood that Talk ‘N Text is a great team and we understood that on the offensive and defensive end, we got to execute on every play and maximize every possession.”
