FROM UAAP player to PBA team executive.
This is the path that Jacob Lao is set to embark on after being named as assistant team manager of Converge in the PBA.
Lao is only 22 years old and is currently a member of the Ateneo Blue Eagles side that will be gunning for the UAAP Season 85 men's basketball championship against University of the Philippines in the finals starting on Sunday.

He was also a member of the La Salle Greenhills team that captured the NCAA juniors crown during the 2017-2018 season, beating Mapua with now UP cager JD Cagulangan as the Finals MVP against a Red Robins team led by now NCAA MVP Will Gozum.
The rookie ballclub on Thursday also announced the appointment of Pampanga governor Dennis 'Delta' Pineda as team manager of the FiberXers.
Lao may be young but Converge believes he's ready for the job. Aside from being a student and varsity player, Lao is also manager of the FJ Group, whose companies include restaurants such as Gloria Maris and Choi Garden.
“Jacob at an even younger age of 22 brings to the FiberXers’ quest for PBA championships the elements of youth, dynamism, and managerial skills on top of his equally passionate love for basketball,” said Converge team governor Chito Salud.

“Jacob is well attuned to an organization’s need for constant reinvention, for innovation, and serving a unique dish of basketball play in order to thrive and win amidst tough competition,” said Salud.
Both Pineda and Lao will take their positions starting the PBA Governors’ Cup this season.
