JACKSON Corpuz isn’t thinking about his impending free agency as he is focused on his ongoing campaign with Columbian in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
The 29-year-old Corpuz was left undrafted in 2014 and bounced around in the PBA D-League before getting his big break at Columbian, where he is averaging 13.14 points through seven games after a couple of 20-point games in the Governors’ Cup.
Not bad for a player who was unable to break double-figure averages in scoring in an import-laced conference after only averaging 2.45 points in this year's Commissioner's Cup and seven points in last year's Governors' Cup.
On Wednesday, Corpuz didn’t reach the 20-point mark but still had 19 points and five rebounds in a 104-94 loss to Alaska.
Corpuz is happy to be back in full fitness, admitting he was frustrated after he kept reinjuring his ankle this conference. But that injury has completely healed, allowing him to do extra work in practices.
“Four games nga lang ako naglaro dahil sa injury,” said Corpuz, adding that he was hurting in his three other games. “Nafa-frustrate ako dahil kapag after two minutes, hindi na ako mabalik (because of the injury)…
Ngayon, ‘yung ginagawa kong extra, nagbubunga,” Corpuz said.
