COLUMBIAN'S shock 134-132 overtime win over San Miguel in the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup may have come at a price with Jackson Corpuz hurting his left knee on Sunday.
The hardworking bruiser injured his knee at the 8:50 mark of the fourth quarter, landing awkwardly after getting a pass down low from Rashawn McCarthy.
"Pinasa lang sa akin tapos pagbagsak ko, may naramdaman na agad ako," shared the 6-foot-4 forward. "Hindi ko alam. Basta pagbagsak ko, may naramdaman na ako."
He did not return in the game and finished with seven points and five rebounds in 14 minutes of action.
Initial diagnosis from the Dyip PTs ruled it as a sprain, though Corpuz said that the knee hurt whenever he tries to walk. He even needed an aid as he made his way out of the venue.
"Sabi naman sprain pero pag tinatanong ako, di ko siya magalaw eh. Every time na nilalakad ko, parang may naghihiwalay, may sumasabit. Namamaga na nga eh," he said.
Corpuz was rushed to Cardinal Santos Medical Center for further examination.
As tough of a break as his injury was, Corpuz said he only feels mixed emotions as he would have wanted to be on the floor as Columbian continued its mastery of San Miguel this season.
"Masaya ako na malungkot kasi panalo nga kami, na-injure naman ako. Iba pa rin yung naglalaro ako na kasama ako doon," said the Philippine Christian University standout, who is averaging 9.7 points and 6.7 boards for the conference.
All he could do now, though, is to hope for the best that his injury won't be as serious as he imagines it to be.
"Sana hindi malala," he said.
