IN his comeback game coming off an injury, Jackson Corpuz made his presence felt right away.

Just nine seconds after coming in during the second quarter, the 29-year-old forward immediately committed a hard foul to announce his entry and at the same time, give Columbian Dyip some semblance of a spark in its PBA Governors Cup game against NorthPort Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The infraction led to a technical foul for the Dyip.

“Ang lalambot kasi namin kanina. So kailangan gumising, nagbigay lang ako ng kaunti, pero yun lang napalala,” said tough-playing Corpuz with a smile.

    “Ayun nagising.”

The Dyip did as they came out a more energized side in the second half to turn the tables around and notch a 114-108 victory over the Batang Pier and improve to a 2-1 record.

Corpuz only suited up for a total of seven minutes in what was just a feel-out game for him after being out of action for the last three months since going down with a sprained ACL and partial tear of the left meridian meniscus during the mid-season Commissioner’s Cup.

He just joined the Dyip in contact practice last week and admitted not yet really in game condition.

To his surprise, he was given a longer playing minutes by coach Johnedel Cardel.

“Kahit two minutes or one minute nga lang, e ok na ako para lang makakuha ng kaunting hangin,” he said.

“Kaya pasalamat ako kay coach John kasi may tiwala pa rin sa akin kahit galing ako sa injury, ganun pa rin kahaba yung minuto na ibinigay sa akin,” said Corpuz.

The extended minutes, according to him, will go a long way for him to regain his playing rhythm.

“Kahit 80 percent (muna), ok na sa akin,” he said.

Other than his tough plays, another Corpuz signature was also back on the playing court.

“Kailangan (din) ibalik,” he said of his can’t-missed multi-colored hair.
