TERRENCE Romeo continues to languish on the bench as his hurting back kept him from suiting up for Terrafirma in the PBA Philippine Cup.

Coach Raymond Tiongco said the 33-year-old guard has been advised to rest for the next four weeks, which means the three-time champion and three-time scoring leader isn't rejoining the Dyip anytime soon.

“Sabi ng PT namin, four months na rest yung back niya,” said Tiongco. “Yung dati niyang injury yun. Kaya games and practice, hindi puwedeng mapuwersa.”

“Pahinga lang yun.”

Romeo, acquired in a trade with San Miguel along with Vic Manuel for the duo of Juami Tiongson and Andreas Cahilig, played in the first three games of the Dyip and scored 17 points on 4-of-8 three-point shooting in a 95-87 stunner over Phoenix.

But it was all downhill for the Dyip after that despite the former UAAP MVP out of Far Eastern University playing against Meralco and Northport.

In three games, Romeo averaged 9.3 points before being relegated to the injury list.

Terrafirma suffered a sixth straight loss Wednesday, 117-87, for a league-worst 1-6 slate.

Things aren’t expected to get better for the Dyip the rest of the way as they’re also without sophomore big man Keimark Carino (ACL injury).

“Si (Brent) Paraiso is not healthy. Pinipilit na nga lang namin yun. Tapos si Terrence injured. Unhealthy yung team,” said Tiongco.

The Terrafirma coach though, is still keeping his fingers crossed Romeo will be able to return to action in the remaining games of the franchise for Season 49 before the team's expected sale.

“Hopefully yung last two games namin andito siya. Sana maka-recover pa,” said Tiongco. “Kapag may go-signal ang PT namin.”

The Dyip’s last four games are against San Miguel, Converge, Rain or Shine, and Blackwater.
