ANGELES CITY – It was never-say-die the LA Tenorio way.
Not wanting to see his PBA record for the most number of games played get broken, the veteran guard suited up and played in Barangay Ginebra’s PBA Philippine Cup debut as the Kings got past the NLEX Road Warriors, 102-92, Sunday night at the Angeles University Foundation gym.
Tenorio played close to 12 minutes (11:57) in the game the Kings controlled majority of the way as he hardly showed the effects of the laparoscopy surgery performed on him just two weeks prior to entering the bubble.
He finished with only a single point on 0-for-4 shooting from the field and had two rebounds.
But the figures hardly bothered him as the number that really matters remained safe and intact as Tenorio stretched his ‘Iron Man’ record in the league to a total of 642 games and counting.

Coach Tim Cone said the 36-year-old playmaker was adamant about playing against the Road Warriors.
“He shows tremendous courage in coming out and playing two weeks out of surgery. That’s just him. He doesn’t want to miss anything,” said Cone of his long-time player.
“So he was really intent on playing.”
Of course, the Ginebra coaching staff made sure to regulate his playing time and not to compromise his health.
“We tried to monitor him and watch him with eagle eye,” added Cone, noting how rusty Tenorio has been after more than two weeks of not actively playing.
