PETER Alfaro just had his PBA career game on Thursday night in Magnolia's 110-104 win over Phoenix in the Commissioner's Cup.
And he has no less than his teammate and kababayan Mark Barroca to thank for.
The rookie guard said his fellow Zamboangueno is someone he looks up to, and it’s a blessing for him that he gets to play and share the Magnolia backcourt alongside the veteran playmaker.

"Si kuya Mark talaga is my inspiration, he works really hard, yung work ethic niya, he’s humble," Alfaro said of Magnolia's long-time leader.
"And sa loob ng court alam naman natin na he's a leader kahit hindi siya gaano ka-vocal. Pero lagi niya sinasabi sa akin na I really have to step up, yung pagiging steady ko as a point guard, to be able to contribute for my team."
Alfaro did translate his inner Barroca mindset against the Fuel Masters where he had a conference high of 14 points built around a perfect game of 5-of-5 shooting, including 4-of-4 from three point range.
Alfaro, who played for San Beda and Zamboanga Valientes, added three rebounds, four assists, and a steal without a turnover as a starter.

His flawless game was a perfect complement to Barroca who finished with 22 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
More importantly, Magnolia remained in the running for a playoff spot with its 4-6 record.
"Sobrang grateful lang ako and it's really a big blessing na kasama ko yung fellow Zamboangueno ko," said Alfaro following the win over Phoenix.
