INJURY woes continued for Phoenix on Sunday with RR Garcia playing limited minutes due to a dislocated left shoulder.
Garcia got hurt in the first half and only played for 47 seconds for the Fuel Masters in their 116-102 loss to San Miguel on Sunday in the PBA Philippine Cup.
Garcia’s injury may not be as serious as that of his fellow guard Tyler Tio, who is down with a Grade 3 ankle sprain, but his absence thinned Phoenix’s backcourt in the game forcing the likes of Kent Salado to play extended minutes.
Salado stepped up for Phoenix with the depleted guard rotation and had 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 27 minutes and two seconds of action.
Phoenix coach Jamike Jarin hopes that Garcia’s injury won’t force the veteran guard to miss games.
“We were so excited because he is really shooting very well the past weeks, and all of a sudden, he dislocated his shoulder but he was able to put it back,” said Jarin.
“Siyempre, it’s going to swell up so we had to sit him down. Hopefully, nothing serious. We will still look at it. The trainers and the physical therapist will take a look at it and we will have to schedule it with the doctors,” said Jarin.
Aside from Tio, Raul Soyud is also out for Phoenix due to a recurring hamstring injury.
