DESPITE being sidelined by an ACL injury, Rain or Shine gave rookie Jun Roque a contract extension going to the PBA’s final conference of Season 50.
The 6-foot-4 Letran alumnus signed a one-year deal on Tuesday and was accompanied by agent Anthony Brodett of Phenom Sports Management.
Team governor Atty. Mamerto Mondragon was present during the contract signing.

Roque was a first-round pick (12th overall) by the Elasto Painters in the last draft and quickly earned the trust of coach Yeng Guiao, who inserted him as part of the team’s rotation the moment he became available in the mid-season Governors’ Cup.
Unfortunately, the promising start to his pro career was abruptly cut short when he suffered an ACL tear in Rain or Shine’s game against Magnolia.
Roque averaged 5.5 points and 2.6 rebounds by the time he went down with the injury.

Before joining Rain or Shine in mid-season, Roque finished his playing year with Letran, one which saw the Knights reach the Season 101 finals only to be swept by the San Beda Red Lions.
Roque was one of two rookies picked by the Elasto Painters in the first round of the last draft along with Christian Manaytay at No. 10.
In all, the team signed four rookies out of the Season 50 draft class namely, Manaytay, Roque, and second-round picks Deo Cuajao (No. 22) and Joshua David (No. 24).
