ROB Dozier felt disappointed going down with plantar fasciitis again and failing to help embattled Phoenix in its PBA Commissioner’s Cup campaign.
The former Best Import suffered the injury right in the Fuel Masters debut game against Blackwater and couldn’t go full blast in their next outing against TnT Katropa, prompting management to look for a replacement in Richard Howell.
“It’s kind of a big, big disappointment,” said Dozier of his situation. “But it’s all part of the game and right now the focus is on getting back healthy.”
The 33-year-old Dozier saw his team for the last time on Friday as he watched the Fuel Masters absorb a second straight loss, this time against Meralco, 101-95, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Dozier is set to fly back home and get his injured right foot rehabbed.
The Phoenix import also suffered from plantar fasciitis on his left foot during his second tour of duty with Alaska in 2016. He played through the pain though, and steered the Aces to the finals of the Commissioner’s Cup where the Aces lost to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
“I don’t know what it is in the air but when I came to the Philippines the last two times, I get hurt,” he said smiling. “But as I said, that’s all part of the game.”
Dozier vowed to return to Asia and perhaps, in the PBA again, once he is healthy again.
“Probably somewhere in Asia again. I’m not pretty sure it could either be Korea or Japan. Somewhere not too far in the Philippines."
