MO Tautuaa hopes to get back in time for Talk ‘N Text crunch clash against Barangay Ginebra on Sunday in the last day of the PBA Philippine Cup elimination round.
The TNT rookie big man missed the Tropang Texters’ 107-96 win over GlobalPort on Friday due to back spasms, but is eager to return in the next two days as he looks forward to matching up with the Gin Kings’ twin towers Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar.
“Of course, absolutely,” Tautuaa said. “That’s why they got me in here: to bang with these big guys. If my back catches up with me, I’m ready to play. Once you see me laced up, I’ll be ready to go.”
“I don’t like missing games and I hope that I’m back out there as soon as possible,” added the Rookie of the Year candidate, who hasn’t practiced since Monday.
Tautuaa was glad – and hardly surprised - that fellow top pick Troy Rosario picked up the slack.
“That’s just Troy,” the Filipino-Tongan cager said of the No. 2 pick, who tallied 19 points and seven boards against the Batang Pier. “Troy always works hard and he showed it today. I’m proud of him.”
For himself, Tautuaa simply wants to get back on the court as soon as possible.
“It depends on God when he wants me to be ready,” he said. “Right now, I’m taking it easy, but hopefully I’m ready by tomorrow.
