MARCIO Lassiter was hardly worried his absence would have a negative effect on San Miguel Beer’s game against Mahindra in the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday night.
The SMB sniper, who missed his first game of the all-Filipino conference, is recuperating from groin and hamstring injuries, although he’s confident his teammates would be able to fill up the void he left.
And they did as the Beermen rolled to a 102-86 win over the Enforcers to move closer to an automatic semifinal berth.
“Of course (I knew my teammates would step up), always,” Lassiter said. “I always want to play, but tonight wasn’t. Good thing we have another game coming up, so we’ll see.”
The Filipino-American shooting guard revealed he has been nursing the injury since their second game of the season against Meralco.
“I’ve been playing through it, but your body tells you sometimes (to rest),” he said.
Lassiter hopes to play in the Beermen’s next game against NLEX on Wednesday.
“It is what it is. It happens. I just got to take it day by day and see what happens,” said the 6-foot-2 wingman, who was also at the sidelines when he attended the Gilas practice last Monday.
